Livin' Large Outdoors
Outdoor living has captured the attention of many homeowners today. In fact, sunrooms and patios have literally become extensions of the home and help bring the outdoors in - with style! We've been asked to design an "outdoor space" for a longtime client of ours. They have common requests - a pet and kid friendly, comfortable, peaceful space to hang out and entertain friends. With all of the new innovations in outdoor living products such as rugs, weather resistant art, performance fabrics, lighting, cooling and heating - this is a piece of cake! Here are just some of the inspirations that crossed my desk while I worked on a design plan for our client:
Can you believe that this furniture and fabric can literally be "rained" on and is resistant to the elements?
The selection of outdoor fabrics available today is amazing! Weather resistant fabrics are liquid, soil and stain protected so it is ok that your fabrics and cushions get wet. Every outdoor fabric is fade, mildew and rot resistant. There is no need to treat your cushions with protectants as these fabrics have been specifically designed for outdoor use. We DROOL over Schumacher Fabrics!
It's hard to believe these outdoor rugs just need to be "hosed off" for cleaning!
Aaaah... the peaceful sound of running water to wash away the stresses of the day. Outdoor fountains are easy to assemble and make all the difference!
Many people assume that adding lights outdoors requires elaborate, expensive wiring, but there are several low-tech options for "creating the mood.
I love the wide open spaces, but if it were up to me, this would suit me fine - a 75 degree day, a iced green tea and a People Magazine in my hand!
