My Top 5 Favorite Blogs

I have to admit I have become an interior design blog freak!  I am listing just a few of my favorites by category.  1. Most unique 2. Best DIY 3.Best Photography 4. Most informative, and 5. Funniest

 And the awards go to:

Most unique.......

Since 2007, Erin Olson has been sharing beautiful and uplifting rooms on her design blog House of Turquoise.  Her photos are bright, beautiful and every space is pure eye candy!

In addition to the House of Turquoise, she maintains several daily shopping blogs that help people find all sorts of things in fabulous colors (including turquoise, of course).   Visit DecorByColor where you'll find products categorized by color.  What a "unique" concept.  I was fortunate to meet Erin at Blogfest 2012 and she is sooo nice!!

Best DIY blog goes to......

The talent behind Centsational Girl is Kate Riley, a former lawyer turned home blogger has been passionate about design, décor, and do-it-yourself projects for over 10 years.  This site is where she shares all of her adventures in DIY projects, interior decorating, home improvement, and life behind the scenes.

I love how she gives complete step by step instructions with excellent photos so you're not afraid to try it yourself!!

She writes a design column for Better Homes and Gardens at Centsational Style several times a week, and you can also find her at the My Colortopia blog sharing all about paint and color inspiration.

Moving on to best photography......

Brooke Giannetti is a California-based interior decorator, shop owner and blogger.  Brooke frequently collaborates with her husband, architect Steve Giannetti.  Their work has appeared in Coastal Living, Romantic Homes, Country Living, and the New York Times, just to name a few.  Brooke began Velvet and Linen in 2009 to share her inspirations and the projects she's working on, one of them being their own home called Patina Farm.

They published a book last year called Patina Style.  It is a beautiful coffee table book filled with gorgeous photos of their design aesthetic.  Brooke and Steve live in Santa Monica with their three children, two dogs and several chickens.

The photographs on the blog are so large, crisp and clear, you just can't stop scrolling through them!!

My vote for most informative blog goes to Tobi Fairley...

Tobi is one of those women that most of us are secretly saying "how the hell does she do it?".  Well I can tell you, I've seen firsthand how she does it.  Not only is she she sharp as a tack, she's an extremely hard worker.  I voted for her blog as most informative because Tobi is so knowledgable on so many fronts and shares so much of that knowledge through her blog.  Here's just a few of the things she has done:

She started her design firm over 10 years ago.   Her designs have been  been published on the cover of House Beautiful and in Traditional HomeBetter Homes and Gardens special publications, Southern Living, and have made the cover of At Home in Arkansas Magazine 9 times. She started her blog in September 2008 is currently read in more than 124 countries worldwide. Tobi also writes a monthly design column, Tobi’s Tips, for AY magazine, a regular blog column for At Home in Arkansas Magazine called Color Confidential, and is a regular contributor to William Sonoma’s Designer Marketplace.Ok, I'm not done yet.  It keeps going.....

In 2010 Tobi introduced her DIY design service, InBox Interiors, and launched her popular design camps.

Tobi also created a home furnishings line, Tobi Fairley Home, a collection of fabrics, pillows and lighting as part of Hickory Chair’s Centennial Furniture Collection in the Fall of 2011.Tobi is working on product designs for several companies and frequently speaks on the business of design and the power of social media. Tobi’s newest business venture, Tobi Fairley and Associates, is a consulting group dedicated to helping firms with the business of design. Are you exhausted yet?  In all fairness, even though she juggles all of the things mentioned above, it is always done so professionally and eloquently.  She's by far a superstar!!

OK, so I saved the funniest for last.  I haven't met this girl, Sherry Hart, even though she lives right here in Atlanta.  I've been dying to ask her to go to lunch so maybe now that I've selected her as one of my "favorites" she will accept my offer!!  Her blog is called Design Indulgence.

Sherry followed her dream and started her own design business 20 years ago.  She frequents Scott's Antique Market and loves to repurpose.  I recently subscribed to her blog and ever since, the minute it hits my inbox, no matter what I'm doing, I have to read it.  It seriously makes my day.  See the power of bloggers?  It's amazing!!  I just have to share one of  THE funniest blogs I've ever read from Sherry.  Read it here and laugh your @## off!!

It was really hard to just pick a few of my favorite blogs because there are so many good ones.  Hope you enjoy these!!
