It's HERE! Pantone's 2014 Color of the Year!
It's that time of year again. It's like Christmas for designers, the official announcement of Pantone's Color of the Year! After an exciting trip to High Point in October we have to admit that we saw this year's winner coming, but we are excited just the same.
So, here it is. Drum Roll Please…… The 2014 Color of the Year is….
Radiant Orchid!
According to Pantone, "Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination." “It's an invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”
Our creative side likes the sound of that!
Pantone also discusses the use of Radiant Orchid in interiors, "as adaptable as it is beautiful, Radiant Orchid complements olive and deeper hunter greens, and offers a gorgeous combination with paired with turquoise, teal, and even light yellows. It is also sure to liven up neutrals including gray, beige, and taupe."
It is also "Uplifting and bold without being overpowering, Radiant Orchid reenergizes almost any color palette and provides a unifying element for diverse spaces."
Here's a few of our favorite images of Pantone's newest star:
In High Point we were surrounded by this knock-out color. The Lillian August showroom had some beautiful displays of all shades of purple. Here are a few of our favorites!
The luxurious feel of this lavender velvet is divine.
The same velvet looks ultra-feminine on this curved wing-back.
This soft shade of purple is glamorous paired with a mirrored bed frame and crystal chandelier.
Obviously we are big fans of color, and we were drawn into this space to get a closer look at the striped banquette. It looked especially good sitting at this distressed wood table!
